What a start to the 2022 Loch Ness circumnavigation #lochnesscircumnavigation2022 ...

We started on time at 8:00 in INVERNESS, naturally in pouring rain.

The path followed the River Ness through woodland and meadows.

After a short detour to ALDOURIE CASTLE, the route reached the 'gateway' to LOCH NESS: DORES, a picturesque, sleepy Scottish village. From here the weather changed to brilliant sunshine.

The famous Nessie hunter Steve Feltham lived there in a small trailer for over 25 years, searching for NESSIE day and night.

Following LOCH NESS past old cemeteries and many 'Lake Views', we reached Craigdarroch Lodge in Foyers after 41 km.

The view over LOCH NESS rewards the day’s exertions, and whisky tastes even better by an open fire.
